Our Story

We founded Lost in Samsara in 2015 for people like you and us that want to wear the values they believe in. We wanted to expand the already available choice of modern ethical accessories so we started creating our own.

We recycle different materials that would have otherwise gone to landfill and transform them into cool accessories of every day use. The creation of these products allows us to provide employment opportunities for small cooperatives of artisans that come from underprivileged backgrounds.

We believe that small actions count and that small actions multiplied by millions can change the world. We feel the urgency now more than ever to spread a positive message and put some actions behind our words. We cannot change the system overnight but we can rebel everyday to it by supporting a different and fairer system where we all respect each other and the planet we live in.

What we do

Why Lost in Samsara?

Samsara is a Sanskrit word referring to the "cycle of aimless wandering and mundane existence" we often find ourselves in. We get so caught up in our daily routines that we become blind to the harm they inherently cause. “Lost in Samsara” refers to this metaphorical blindness and it does all is possible to offer a way to jump off the hamster wheel and help empower the people who make the products we buy while preserving the environment we all live in.

According to the Cambridge Dictionary, upcycling is "the activity of making new furniture, objects, etc, out of old or used things or waste material." It is not to be confused with recycling which is only the process of collecting materials so that it can be used again.

At Lost in Samsara we do both. We recycle old tyres, motorcycles seats, cement bags and bullet cases and we upcycle them to create our collections. By giving them a new life, we avoid that all these discarded materials end up in landfills thus polluting our planet.

This is how it works!

The waste material is bought to be reused and by doing so people are encouraged not to throw it away, but to keep it and then sell it. This means less trash and less pollution.

The artisans transform the material into one of our accessories giving it the extra miles.

By wearing one of our products you are not only contributing to keep waste out of landfills, but also helping to provide meaningful employment for disadvantaged artisans and their families.
